Description

This Chili Frito Bake combines layers of seasoned ground beef, chili beans, and cheese with crispy Fritos for a deliciously easy meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 cups canned chili beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 5 cups Fritos corn chips
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • Optional: sliced jalapeños

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked.
  2. Stir in chili powder and cook for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the drained chili beans and simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
  4. Layer half of the Fritos in a baking dish, followed by half of the chili mixture and a sprinkle of cheese.
  5. Repeat layers with remaining Fritos, chili, and top with more cheese.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.
  7. Serve hot with sour cream and green onions on top.

Notes

  • For extra spice, consider adding sliced jalapeños on top before baking.
